The Science of Predictable Energy Absorption

 

When a load is applied to aluminum honeycomb, it undergoes plastic deformation through controlled cell wall buckling, converting kinetic energy into internal work at a constant force across the crushed thickness . This results in a linear, predictable force-displacement curve—the foundation of reliable dummy calibration.
